Description

On the occasion of the Holy Rabi-ul-Awal, the Institute of Hazrat Mohammad (SAW) organized an essay competition for visually impaired students from schools, colleges and universities in the country. The competition an annual event of the Institute aims to generate awareness and understanding amongst its participants on the exemplary role of Prophet Mohammad (SAW) as the Educator of Mankind. A month long program it culminated with a prize distribution ceremony held in collaboration with the Westin Dhaka Hotels on February 27, 2010. Honorable Deputy Speaker of Parliament, People’s Republic of Bangladesh Col. (Retd.) Shawkat Ali M.P. graced the event as the Chief Guest. Ms. Shahin Monowara Haque, Honorable Member of the Parliament, H.E Mr. Ahmed A. H. Elimam, Ambassador of the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, H.E Mr. Ashraf Qureshi, High Commissioner of the Pakistan High Commission, H.E Mr. U Phae Thann Oo, Ambassador of the Union of Myanmar, H.E Mr. Zet Mirzal Zainuddin, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia,H.E Mr. Hassan Farazandeh, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E Mr Nguyen Van That, Ambassador of Vietnam, Mr. H M.T. D Herath, Minister Counselor and Deputy Head of High Commission of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Ms. Lauren Lovelace, Director, The American Center were present as Special Guests. The vote of thanks was given by the President of the Institute Lt. General (Retd) M. Nooruddin Khan who congratulated the visually impaired students for their sincere efforts. He thanked the management of Westin Dhaka Hotels, especially Mr. Noor Ali, the owner for the generous contribution towards this program and making it a successful event. The evening’s program concluded through handing of the prizes that were sponsored by Sony Rangs Ltd. It was followed by presentation of the Holy Quran in Braille by H.E. Mr. Zet Mirzal Zainuddin, Ambassador of Indonesia to the Institute of Hazrat Mohammad (SAW). The winners of the essay competition were also presented with prizes from the Embassy of the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya. The august gathering consisted of eminent personalities from diplomatic missions, the government and various other disciplines and persons with disability.
