Description

On the auspicious occasion of Holy Ramadan, the Institute of Hazrat Mohammad SAW organized a program for the visually impaired students on August 6, 2011. The program aimed to generate awareness about the principles of equality, charity and sacrifice of Holy Ramadan. The program was sponsored by the Westin Hotel, Dhaka. Visually Impaired students from various schools, colleges and universities throughout the country participated in this event as a means to raise awareness within our society of the abilities and potential of visually impaired persons. Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Chairman, Bangladesh National Human Rights Commission graced the program as the Chief Guest. H.E. Ali Ahmad Aldafiri, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait, H.E. Dasho Bap Kesang, Ambassador, Embassy of the Kingdom of Bhutan, HE W. A. Sarath K. Weragoda, High Commissioner, High Commission of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, First Secretary, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, HE Mr. MIN Lwin, Ambassador, Embassy of the Republic of Union of Myanmar, HE Mr. Afzal Mahmood, Acting High Commissioner, High Commission of Pakistan, Ms. Sarah Longbrake, Third Secretary, American Embassy Dhaka, Counselor of the Embassy of Palestine, Mr. Monsur Ahmed Chowdhury, Member, Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the United Nations and Major General Firdaus Mian, Chairman, Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) were present as Special Guests. The program started with recitation from the Holy Quran by Hafiz Abdul Rahim. A short lecture on the significance of Holy Ramadan was delivered by Sheema Iqbal, a law student. Hamd and Nat-e-Rasool were rendered by Ali Hossain from Dhaka University, Shahabuddin Dolon from Music University, Ananna Sharmin, Employee at the Family Planning Department, Bangladesh Government, Shari Ahmed from Dhaka University and students from Mirpur School. M Saiful Islam Shahen, Employee of Sight Savers International donated a Holy Quran in Braille to the Institute of Hazrat Mohammad SAW. The select gathering was attended by eminent personalities from diplomatic missions, philanthropists, educationists, the Government, the private sector and people from various other disciplines.
