Description

On occasion of Holy Rabiul-Awwal the Institute of Hazrat Mohammad (SAW) and the Center for Zakat Management (CZM) jointly organized a Talent Hunt Competition and Prize Giving Ceremony on Sunday, November 10, 2019. This program aimed to showcase the talents of visually impaired persons of schools, colleges and universities across the country.
H. E. Dr. Md. Enamur Rahman, MP, Honorable State Minister, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh graced the ceremony as the Honorable Chief Guest. Ms. Farzanah Chowdhury, CEO and Managing Director, Green Delta Insurance Ltd. & an SDG Pioneer for Women's Economic Security at the United Nations Global Compact attended as the Guest of Honor. H. E. Mr. Ta'eeb Salim Al Alawi, Head of Mission, Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman and Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University were present as Special Guests.
The Chief Guest applauded the Institute for advancing the goal of the Present Government to improve lives of persons with disability. He commended the Institute for its training and support program for visually impaired individuals.
Ms. Farzanah Chowdhury commended the Institute's initiative to empower visually impaired persons through skills training and enable them to contribute towards the nation's economic development.
Dr. Mohammad Ayub Miah, CEO, CZM reflected on the immense potential of zakat towards alleviating poverty. He further reiterated CZM's commitment to support the Institute towards empowering visually impaired persons through scholarships and upgrade of its IT lab.
The President of the Institute Lt. General (Retd) M. Nooruddin Khan urged influential members of society to come forward and create education and employment opportunities for visually impaired persons.
Mr. Rasel Hasan, Course Instructor for IT Training at the Institute presented the keynote paper "The Journey towards Enlightenment". The program had stalls by Ms. Shahida Aktar, a handicrafts maker and student of the Institute and Mr. Habibur Rahman, a mushroom cultivator and trainer at the Institute. The program included an Art exhibition titled "Art Beyond Sight: Bringing Art and Culture for All" reflecting the world through the mind of the visually impaired. It also had individual deliberations on the Rights of Persons with Disability as per the UN Conventions and under the Laws of Bangladesh. The venue and hospitality arrangements were sponsored by the Lakeshore Hotel.
