The Institute and Daily Bangladesh Today jointly organized a roundtable conference titled ‘Towards a free and fair national election 2007’ with the aim to address and resolve a national crisis and seek the attention of government, politician and the Election Commission. Dr. Manowar Hossain, Head of Economics Division of the Institute presented the concept paper which proposed a low cost and economic methodology for the production of photo ID cards for all the voters in Bangladesh in a 3 months time. Justice Abdur Rouf, former Election Commissioner, Mr. Jonathon Sibra, Director, The American Center, US Embassy, Shahjahan Kabir, Program Advisor, The Asia Foundation, Anwar Hossain, Former secretary, Election Commission, Lt. General (Retd.) Haroon, Former Chief of Army Staff were present amongst the dignitaries.
